She is an inspirational life coach, NLP master practitioner and the owner of joy, marketing and coaching. And we're going to be learning all about that in a few minutes. Joy helps women who are lost and stuck in their life to gain confidence and clarity about what they do professionally find joy and own their authentic self. She believes that when people leave their comfort zone, they can find their authentic self. So hybrids you thank you so much for being here. hyzaar I thank you so much for having me. Of course, I'm so excited to talk about this. So tell me why this is just jumping in with a question. But this this idea of finding your authentic self, what do you mean?
Burcu Onaranel 0:55
It's a very deep question and a deep, long journey that everybody has to get into, in my opinion, and why I believe it's important to leave our comfort zone and how it's helping you to find your authentic self as for most people, I mean, all the coaches started what they do, because they struggled about that topic. So I was lost. In my life, I didn't know who I was, I didn't know what I was meant to do in this slide. for about seven, eight years ago, I had almost everything that many people can dream of like having a corporate job, car, you know, friends, I was living with my parents, it was a great comfort zone. I call it a bubble. But something was missing in my life. And I didn't know that I wasn't living my true self. So I started questioning. And that's how I came across to NLP neuro linguistic programming, the tool that helps you to find what you really want, and helps you to manage your emotions, it's a great tool to learn. And that's how I started doing my research on who I was and what I want in this life. So I started leaving everything in my comfort zone, I quit my job, I left. I left my country, my loved ones, I moved to the United States in 2016. And I didn't know the English, I didn't know anyone, I didn't have any job. It was it was scary. But it was completely what I needed. At that time. Of course, I'm not recommending this to anyone to do or everyone because it's it's very tough. And you have to be very lost in your life probably to do that. And I was like that I am like, I don't have anything to lose, I have to do this because I really don't know what I want. So that's the long story short, I did all those challenges. And I moved to the United States. Of course, in my journey in the United States, I fell and I will cop you know, ups and downs. But then I worked with a lot of people, entrepreneurs, and I had a lot of spiritual teachers and in people who are, you know, popular in this field, like Tony Robbins, Brendon Burchard, I got to work with people who work with them, and I got to meet them. It was just amazing. So I believe in my clients to who work with joy. That's the way of going to your authentic self. Because whenever you leave your comfort zone, you meet another version of you, you're going to discover another version of yourself. And you will be like, Okay, I have this strength, or I like this more. And I don't like this, but you didn't know. You didn't mean you didn't leave your comfort zone. You would never know what was missing or what you like.
Isadora Samadello 4:23
Wow, man, that's inspiring. Why is the comfort zone so dangerous?
Burcu Onaranel 4:32
Good question. It's dangerous because you become numb. You become like you're in a hamster wheel. You're doing the same things over and over. And that's not life because life is in a constant change. You're not the same like you were one year ago. You're not even same your version of a day ago. You're difficult today. You're you're changing in The world is changing, the universe is changing. You know, when you look at all the plants and food events, they taste different, everything changed. So our life needs to getting more of these changes in the universe for us to be able to move in that flow. If we just try to stick on just one thing, it's not gonna work out at the end of the day, we have to figure out we have to discover that's how we are born in nature, when you look at past people, you know, decades, hundreds years ago, they were always discovering and exploring stuff. That's why it's dangerous to stay in that comfort zone. Right?
Isadora Samadello 5:50
Yeah, and I'll be honest with you, I agree. 100% I think the challenge for me when I'm thinking about comfort zone, is the anxiety of like, okay, but like, What if something bad happens? And I know that with every decision that we make that is life changing, or even smaller things, like there's always a risk, right? And I find myself actually talking to people about this. And I know so many people who don't want to take risks. And I think that's very dangerous, because like you said, You keep just living on a hamster wheel. And I never know how to tell them that the risk is worth it. You know?
Burcu Onaranel 6:33
Why, yeah, learn that. It's worth it. Like, imagine you and whoever listening us right? Now, imagine when you were a little girl, or Boy, you were so scared to get in front of people in you know, just introduce yourself, it was so scary. Maybe it is scary for many people still, because public speaking is one of the scariest things for human. Right, right. And I'm not talking about talking, you know, in front of people in front of 1000s of people even talking or introducing yourself to one person as a stranger, it's dangerous to you, because you don't know if they're gonna like you or not. So think about that. But when you met one person, and then the other person, and then you know, you just experienced the energy of them and you shared moments, you became friends or you didn't became friends become friends, but you still have that different experiences. And you learn, the more you do stuff, and you learn how you can introduce yourself better, how you can communicate better. This is just a simple example. Because everybody had to go through this in your school, in high school, university, you have to introduce yourself, you have to say your name. And that's scary. And when you do that, when you meet that person, and then the other, you just feel more comfortable. And that gives you joy, the more you do those stuff. So think about that. When you do something for the first time. It's always, you know, you always feel nervous, but also, it's always great to feel Oh my God, I did that too.
Isadora Samadello 8:18
Right. Yeah. And, um, what would you tell people who are listening right now that just go, but this sounds too dangerous, like I can't, I can't take a risk. I can't leave my job. Obviously, we're not telling you to leave your job. This is not what we're going for here. But just the idea of positioning yourself as more important, because we got to take care of ourselves, right. And I love that that's a part of your mission. Just finding your authentic self. That's that speaks a lot to me. So what would you tell people who are just like, yeah, I'm not sure I can do this.
Burcu Onaranel 8:55
It all starts with you. Because everything starts with the mind and everything starts with you. As a coach, I can't change it if you don't want. That's my job. And again, right now, I can't tell you what to do. You have to want it because I went through a lot and I've seen in my clients to in words, it's always easy to say I want to lose weight. But it's not always easy to wake up at 5am or just your day, have your lunch break to go and workout that's out of your comfort zone. And less people do that and less people become successful on what whatever they want to achieve. This is just an example for losing weight because it's a very common thing and with the COVID most people gain weight, let's just be honest. So if you want to be healthier, and if you want to lose weight or if you want to be more successful, then you have to do something Different and you have to do something that scares you and something that you never done before, because you are expecting a different result. While you're doing the same thing, it's not going to happen, it's not going to come from God, the universe, or whoever you call it, it's not gonna come from him directly to you, because you want that, you have to do something, you have to work for it. And you have to put that energy out to the universe, like, Okay, you know what, I'm gonna lose weight, and I'm working out every day, I'm, you know, waking up earlier, I'm eating healthy, and I am doing my best. So I think you have to really make sure how bad you want it. And if you struggle, finding what you want, and if you struggle, how to start, just connect with me, let's have a conversation. And we can just have a coffee chat, virtual chat, and you can understand if our energy is a good match, to work together, and then I will be happy to help you. And maybe not, maybe I can refer you to someone else. And you can have your journey with that person. And that's another thing like, I never tell people, you have to work with me, you have to, you know, follow my steps. No, you have to find your own way, because you're different. And that's your journey. And I highly recommend people if you want to change. If you just want different results in your life, just reach out, don't be afraid to ask for help. And just have a conversation with a stranger because sometimes just even having that different conversation opens another door in your mind, you can have another idea or another strength in you that income to live, then you will be like, Okay, you know what, this girl really helped me to think about this. And I will this, I will change this about me or I will wake up earlier tomorrow and follow this goal that I wanted to.
Isadora Samadello 12:23
Yeah, leaving the comfort zone is uncomfortable. But it's totally worth it. I agree. So tell me more about joy, marketing and coaching.
Burcu Onaranel 12:34
Well, our business, the core of our business is helping people to find their joy, like in name. Because along the way, as an entrepreneur or as an individual, just in general, we all forget that we need to have some fun in life. It's not that always go go go or it's not always you know, you have to hustle, you have to do all the things right. And yeah, now you have to slow down. Sometimes you have to connect with someone and you have to take a deep breath, and maybe do nothing. One day, just give yourself do nothing. It's okay, you don't have to just go all the time that's gonna go the same thing, you will be in the hamster wheel again, too, because you're always on the go and you never stop. And you're gonna be, you know, burnt out, you don't want. So that's the core of our business. And it's it has two sides, marketing and coaching. And again, the core of it is coaching. So we work with entrepreneurs, mostly woman entrepreneurs who feel lack of confidence, clarity and creativity in their business. So we have them to focus on their confidence first, and then move into their visions, their goals and help them to get crystal clear of what they want and where they're going. And along the way, we also help them creating strategies on their marketing and help them to do it down for your system, email campaigns, social media management, all those things that you can think of about digital marketing, we help entrepreneurs to handle that. And also, the last part of the creativity part, we help them if they don't want to outsource them, we teach them your authentic brand. And they can find what platform works for them the best on digital platforms, Facebook, Instagram, whatever works for them. And then we create we help them to create marketing strategies that works for them to reach their goals. And on the other side of the business, the coaching side, we work with Individuals who want to change again, going back to the question, who are ready to change, we don't work with people who don't want to change, and they don't come to us. Because if you want to change, you do something, you reach out. And then you're like, Okay, you don't have to, you know, have all the courage and everything. Of course, we work on that. But you have to take that step and investing you in come to us, then we work on your joy, your confidence, and then we help you to make better and clear decision in your life, and you will reach your dreams.
Isadora Samadello 15:40
I love your mission. That's fantastic. I have one more question for you. So if you were to tell us a resource, or a piece of practical advice, something that could help people get started on this journey today, or even just thinking about what this might look like for them, what would you recommend?
Burcu Onaranel 15:59
You mean, the marketing journey or their discovery, journey, discovery,
Isadora Samadello 16:03
whatever you honestly, whatever is more helpful that you think
Burcu Onaranel 16:09
this is gonna be out of their comfort zone, but it's not super hard, it is hard. If you're an energetic person, like me, if you're on the go, like me, it's hard for us. But when you do it, you're going to find the results. So the recommendation is this having a you time, make sure every day, I call it a coffee o'clock exercise. So morning, the first thing in the morning, have your cup of coffee or tea, just five minutes or 10 minutes, don't have your phone or computer with you just coffee and yourself, like yourself in a room or somewhere that only can you can be with you and just read smell the coffee, hold the cop, just take that time to be still allow the thoughts come to you and you can dream, you can feel grateful, you can count your gratitude. And then if you want, you can write them down. This is an amazing exercise kind of combined with meditation, and you're gonna have calmer minds, and you're gonna have more productive, less stressful and more happier day, every single day. And if you do this, every day, you're gonna realize that you've finished your tasks before, then you're supposed to do, and you're gonna realize you're not reacting to the situation, you used to be super frustrated, you will be calmer and happier in life. And that's what everyone needs in these days. Because for the past two years, was tough, and it is still tough. So we have to really take care of ourselves first swiping the airplane, they say you have to put the air on new Fred,
Isadora Samadello 18:16
I love that metaphor,
Burcu Onaranel 18:18
you have to take care of you first because if you're here, if you're not here is there, I wouldn't be speaking with this audience. And if I'm not here, you wouldn't be interviewing me. And you know, I have to take care of me and you have to take care of you first and then move to other tasks. So maybe putting the second suggestion put yourself as the first task of your day on your to do list. The first one is is adara. The first one is Angelica or whatever, whoever that is. Put yourself first make sure she's good or he's good. And then move to the next one.
Isadora Samadello 19:00
